This looks like it's going to be the last update [from here in Japan] for our half of the team, as we will not have access to internet after today. I'm sure we'll be posting some closing thoughts once we get back to the States.
So, in this "closing post" I thought it would be nice to provide you guys with a picture post of our daily trek from our home church/homestay to the Chew's church.... Enjoy!
The morning starts off with breakfast! Akiko (our homestay host) provided us with A LOT of food for breakfast at the beginning ... then we began opting for more sleep instead of more breakfast... Anyways, the toaster was not just any toaster... it was a toaster with that toasted with a picture of DORAEMON!!!! [It was a little strange at first...but we got used to it =)]
And so our journey begins....
As you can see, everyone is happy as we start out....
(but Matt is still a little tired...heheheh)
But those happy smiles soon change, as the heat and humidity take its toll...
As we continue on our journey, come up to the part I call the "yellow brick road"...
One turn off the "yellow brick road," and we see our most favorite landmark...
What is it, you may ask. Is it a park? Is it a statue? Is it a person sitting on a porch who waves to us as we walk by each day...?
Nope...it's FAMILY MART!!!!! Much like a 7-11, Family Mart is an anything and everything store...although, no slurpees. =[ Why do we like Family Mart so much? Because its AIR CONDITIONED!!!
We would always stop for drinks, and we found this one to be quite fitting...
Once we pass Family Mart, it's three quick turns, and we are there!
After a long walk, here is the expression that greets the Chew's every morning...heheheh...
Looking back at the past two weeks, it has been such a blessing being here. God has definitely taught me a lot--and I'm sure that's the general feeling with the rest of the team. Again, thank you so much for all your prayers and support. We can't wait to come back and share with you all that God has done, is doing, and will do here in Okinawa.
in Christ
